MCU Set to Assemble Young Avengers in Upcoming Show Even Before Their Rumored Solo Project
Marvel Studios is about to bring fans a new animated series called Marvel Zombies, coming to Disney+ later this year. The show is based on the popular Marvel Comics series and is part of Marvel’s expanding lineup on Disney+. Created by Zeb Wells and directed by Bryan Andrews, Marvel Zombies continues the story from the What If…? episode “What If… Zombies?!” which first aired in 2021.
The series is produced by Marvel Studios Animation and will be their first TV show rated TV-MA, meaning it’s aimed at a mature audience.
The story is set in an alternate timeline where many of the heroes and villains from the MCU have turned into zombies. A small group of survivors must try to stay alive while fighting against these undead former heroes.
The animation style matches the cel-shaded look fans saw in What If…?, with Stellar Creative Lab returning to bring the characters to life.
Marvel Zombies features a big cast of familiar faces from the MCU. Stars like Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, and Iman Vellani are all back, reprising their roles. Todd Williams is also part of the cast.
Recently, Nexus Point News shared an interesting detail about the series, Kamala Khan, Riri Williams, and Kate Bishop will appear as best friends in Marvel Zombies. This trio of young heroes, played by Iman Vellani, Dominique Thorne, and Hailee Steinfeld, will be working together in this zombie-filled world. The news confirms these three actors will reprise their roles, which is exciting for fans.
This reunion is especially noteworthy because it hints at the upcoming Young Avengers project, which has been rumored for some time. While Marvel Zombies itself is not officially part of the main MCU timeline, having these characters team up gives fans a glimpse of what might be coming in the future if the Young Avengers or Champions projects ever become real.
The show will explore darker themes and be much more mature compared to other Marvel shows. The TV-MA rating means it will likely feature violence, horror elements, and content aimed at older viewers. This is a big shift from Marvel’s usual family-friendly tone and shows the studio is ready to try something different with their animated projects.
It’s exciting to see Marvel Studios experimenting with new styles and stories that go beyond the typical superhero fare.
With Marvel Zombies set to release on Disney+ soon, fans can expect a wild and intense ride through a world where some of their favorite heroes are no longer who they used to be. It also offers a peek at some of the young heroes who might soon get their own big projects in the MCU.
As Nexus Point News puts it, the friendship between Kamala, Riri, and Kate in this series is a hint of what’s to come, a chance to see young heroes step up and maybe take the spotlight for themselves in the future.
