The ‘Dead-End Job’ cast is built around Lee Jae Wook, who plays a young man drawn into a high paying part time job to pay off his debts. Around him is an ensemble that includes Go Min Si, Kim Min Ha and Lee Hee Joon. Together they populate a story where a generous paycheck comes with a very real risk.

In its official announcement, Netflix described the show as a mystery horror fantasy series and set October 30 as its premiere date. The season runs for eight episodes, and director Kim Da Min, who wrote ‘A Killer Paradox’, works with series creator Han Jun Hee. Here is a closer look at who plays whom in the cast of ‘Dead-End Job’.

Lee Jae Wook plays Byeon Hyeok Jun, a man desperate to escape crushing debt who follows a strange flyer to the mysterious Spider Staffing Agency. The agency offers pay starting at 50 times the minimum hourly wage with one rule, never reveal what happens on the job. His first assignment looks like an ordinary convenience store.

The actor was the first confirmed member of the cast. His earlier work for the streamer includes ‘Extraordinary You’, ‘Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol’ and both seasons of ‘Alchemy of Souls’, along with the upcoming ‘Dear Hongrang’. That track record explains why he anchors a series with this much tonal range.

The teaser poster gives an early sense of what the role demands. It shows Hyeok Jun bloodied and exhausted amid the wreckage of what should be an ordinary convenience store. The image suggests a character who is pushed well past his limits shift after shift.

Go Min Si plays Yeon Ju, who works as an accident investigator at the Occupational Accident Protection Agency. She is determined to uncover the truth behind the incidents surrounding Spider Staffing Agency. In a story told largely from the point of view of a desperate worker, she offers an outside perspective.

Her path crosses with the lead because she approaches Hyeok Jun while investigating the case and gradually unravels the mystery at the heart of the story. That makes her character the likely connection between the supernatural events and the institutions meant to prevent workplace disasters. It also gives the series a procedural thread running beside the horror.

The actress has previously starred in Netflix dramas including ‘Sweet Home’, ‘The Frog’, ‘Live’ and ‘Love Alarm’. Her history with genre material and grounded character work suits a role built on persistence and doubt.

Kim Min-Ha

Kim Min Ha plays Byeon Ji Yun, Hyeok Jun’s younger sister. The pair constantly clash as they struggle with financial hardship, yet she worries about him more than anyone. That push and pull gives the lead a personal stake beyond his own debts.

Netflix’s character description adds a telling detail. She lives by the belief that being poor is more frightening than any ghost. In a show about people who take dangerous work because they cannot afford to refuse, the line works almost as a statement of theme.

This is a first Netflix project for the actress, according to What’s on Netflix. She has led several K-dramas, including ‘Way Back Love’, ‘Light Shop’, ‘Pachinko’ and ‘Not Alright But It’s Alright’. Her presence adds emotional weight to a cast otherwise made up of established Netflix names.

Lee Hee Joon plays the head of Spider Staffing Agency, who offers Hyeok Jun an irresistible high paying part time job. The character is also described as Mr. S, the boss of the agency. His mysterious identity and the secrets surrounding the agency add another layer of intrigue.

The teaser trailer shows how the character operates. The agency head talks a hesitant Hyeok Jun into taking the job, insisting there is no better gig out there. The actor’s résumé includes ‘Karma’, ‘A Killer Paradox’, ‘Vincenzo’ and the films ‘Bogota: City of the Lost’ and ‘Badland Hunters’, which suggests he can make a polite recruiter feel quietly menacing.

Beyond the four leads, Choi Hyun Wook, Yoon Kyung Ho, Yoon Byung Hee and Cho Hyun Chul will make special appearances as people Hyeok Jun encounters at his various part time jobs. Their characters have not been detailed, but the released stills show how they look. If you have already worked through all eight episodes, which of those one shift encounters stayed with you, and did Lee Hee Joon’s recruiter convince you that you would have taken the convenience store job too?
