Meet the New Supergirl: Official Image Drops

James Gunn’s Superman hit theaters this Friday, and the world is still buzzing. The planet’s most famous Kryptonian officially made his live-action debut in the new DCU, and his cousin isn’t far behind. Well, by “soon,” we mean next year, when Milly Alcock stars in her own Supergirl solo film.

Technically, she’s already made her debut… but I can’t talk about that because, you know, Superman spoilers.

Anyway, the studio has just released the first official image of Alcock in full costume, and fans are loving it.

As you can see, Supergirl is wearing a costume that matches Corenswet’s in style, with the same crest design and color scheme. It also stays true to the comic story that inspired her movie, she’s even wearing the classic skirt.

Supergirl is the second film in the DC Universe (DCU), following Superman. Directed by Craig Gillespie, written by Ana Nogueira, and starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, the film is based on the comic miniseries Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.

James Gunn officially announced the project in January 2023 as part of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. He described it as a “big science fiction epic” featuring a more jaded and hardened Supergirl than previous iterations.

Gunn revealed he had envisioned Alcock in the role over a year before her casting, and she was officially confirmed in January 2024, after screen-testing on the Superman set, where she debuted in a cameo giving as taste what her take on the character will be like.

Filming ran from January to May 2025 across England and Scotland. The film also stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and features Jason Momoa as Lobo in a cameo. The film’s subtitle (Woman of Tomorrow) was dropped by June 2025.

Supergirl is scheduled for theatrical release on June 26, 2026, and is part of the DCU’s Chapter One slate.
