Meg Ryan brought a touch of classic Hollywood elegance to the Academy Awards, making a poignant appearance to honor her late director and dear friend, Rob Reiner. Standing alongside her When Harry Met Sally costar Billy Crystal at the Dolby Theatre, the actress joined a group of legendary collaborators to pay tribute to Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, who tragically passed away in December.
The atmosphere was deeply emotional as Billy Crystal took the lead in remembering the filmmaker. My friend Rob’s movies will last for lifetimes because they were about what makes us laugh and cry and what we aspire to be, far better, in his eyes, far kinder, far funnier, and far more human.

As a host of actors stood behind him, Crystal concluded the tribute with a final nod to their shared history, saying, For us who had the privilege of working with and knowing him and loving him, all we can say is, Buddy, what fun we had storming the castle.

Following the formal ceremony, Ryan shifted gears to celebrate at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She looked sophisticated in a sleek, satin green dress paired with black platform heels, wearing her signature blonde hair in a chic, above-the-shoulder bob.
Her appearance at the after-party served as a bright, glamorous follow-up to the solemnity of the evening’s earlier tribute. Ryan, a beloved icon of the romantic comedy genre, became a household name with hits like When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, and You’ve Got Mail.
After stepping away from the spotlight for several years to focus on her family and personal development, she returned to the screen in 2023 with the romantic comedy What Happens Later.
