Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their first public appearance together at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday, January 24.

The couple attended the world premiere of their latest documentary, Cookie Queens, which is part of the festival’s Family Matinee lineup. At the event, they posed for photos with Amy Redford, daughter of festival founder Robert Redford, and the film’s director, Alysa Nahmias.

Cookie Queens, produced by Archewell Productions, follows four young Girl Scouts as they tackle the competitive world of cookie sales. The documentary highlights the teamwork, ambition, and perseverance needed to succeed in an industry worth $800 million. Think future Supreme Court justices, CEOs and beyond, said Sundance programmer Stephanie Owens, describing the young subjects of the film.

The project carries a personal connection for Meghan Markle, who was a Girl Scout as a child in California. Her mother, Doria Ragland, served as her troop leader, nurturing Meghan’s early interest in entrepreneurship. In April 2025, Meghan shared childhood photos on Instagram with the caption, Being an entrepreneur can start young.

The Sundance appearance comes shortly after Prince Harry returned from London, where he gave emotional testimony in his final lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited. Harry and other claimants, including Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley, allege the publisher used unlawful tactics to gather personal information.

During the hearing on January 21, Harry spoke candidly about the impact on his family. By standing up here and taking a stand against them, this has continued to come after me, he said, his voice cracking. And they have made my wife’s life an absolute misery. The publisher has denied the allegations.

While handling legal matters, the Sussexes are also reorganizing their professional team for 2026. They recently reunited with PR firm Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis to support Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, and other U.S.-based projects. This came after the departure of their communications officer, Meredith Maines, in late 2025.

Meghan is focused on growing her brand and her Lemonada Media podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder. Though there are no plans for a third season of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, she is exploring new unscripted projects. Prince Harry continues his work advocating for veterans through the Invictus Games, with the next event planned for early 2027.

Cookie Queens was first announced in December 2025, and its Sundance premiere represents a key step in the couple’s move toward family-oriented storytelling. The documentary will have multiple screenings throughout the festival, which runs until February 1. Through their work with Archewell Productions, the Sussexes are focusing on projects that emphasize female empowerment and social justice.

It’s clear that Meghan and Harry are investing in meaningful, family-friendly stories while balancing high-profile legal and professional commitments. Do you think Cookie Queens signals a lasting creative direction for the Sussexes? Share your thoughts in the comments.
