Megyn Kelly Criticizes Sydney Sweeney’s NSFW Red Carpet Outfit, Says ‘This Is a Rare Misstep’
Megyn Kelly is speaking out against Sydney Sweeney’s latest red carpet outfit, saying the actress went too far with her see-through dress.
During Thursday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the host talked about Sweeney’s look from Variety’s Power of Women event, which took place Wednesday night. While Kelly said she’s a big fan of the Euphoria star, she made it clear she didn’t approve of the revealing gown.
Kelly said she has supported Sweeney in the past, especially after the actress was criticized for her American Eagle jeans campaign earlier this year. But this time, Kelly said the outfit left little to the imagination.
“So she was on the red carpet last night and she decided to show off her number one asset, which, contrary to the American Eagle jeans ad, is not really her jeans, it’s her enormous breasts, which are spectacular,” Kelly said. “No one would take that away from her. But, controversial opinion, I object to this. I disapprove of the dress she wore because it’s completely see through. You can see her entire nipples.”

Kelly went on to compare Sweeney’s choice to Kim Kardashian’s fashion style, saying both reveal too much. “She reminded me of Kim Kardashian who overshares and then takes away the thing that is the se****, which is every guy’s hoping to be the one who actually sees them for real, and leaving a little to the imagination,” she added.
The host also said she believes Sweeney might have been “misled” into wearing the outfit, suggesting the actress may have “trusted the wrong person” when it came to choosing the dress. Kelly said that while the outfit may upset some fans, it likely won’t hurt Sweeney’s career.
Kelly first expressed her admiration for Sweeney earlier this year when the actress faced online backlash for her American Eagle campaign. In the ad, Sweeney plays on the phrase “great genes” by painting over it to say “great jeans.” Some critics called the ad tone-deaf, saying it promoted whiteness and thinness, but Kelly defended her.

“She’s being called a white supremacist by people who don’t like her latest ad, which is for American Eagle,” Kelly said at the time. “She’s advertising jeans, and yet the lunatics on the left think she’s advertising white supremacy. This is obviously a reference to her body and not to her skin color, but the lunatic left is going to do what the lunatic left is going to do.”
Kelly ended her latest comments by saying she still likes Sweeney and her work but couldn’t get behind this particular look. “Even though I am a Sydney Sweeney fan, love the jeans campaign, I thought, ‘This is a rare misstep’… Draw the line at areola!”
The comments sparked debate online, with some agreeing that the dress went too far and others defending Sweeney’s right to wear what she wants.
