Michael B. Jordan Explains Why He’s Not a Dad Yet
Michael B. Jordan recently opened up about why he hasn’t had kids yet, and people on social media had a lot to say about it.
The actor, who has been praised this year for his work in Sinners, revealed his thoughts during a teaser clip for Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman.
While playing darts with Letterman at a pub, the conversation turned to family. Jordan explained that he wants children one day but is starting small. “I want to start off with like plants and dogs to see if I can, you know,” he said. Letterman joked in response, “I see, plants, dogs then humans.”
The two laughed, and Jordan added, “There it is, you know what I’m saying. If I can take care of a plant I should be able to get a dog, if the dog is cool I have a shot.”
The clip quickly caught the attention of social media users, many of whom argued that taking care of plants or pets isn’t the same as raising children.
One person wrote, “Someone tell him it’s nowhere near being the same thing.” Another added, “Dogs and plants don’t ask a million questions by 10am lol.” A third user commented, “Baby those dogs and plants don’t talk back like these teenagers.” And another said, “It’s not the same, these kids love talking back and they think money grows on trees.”
Some fans, however, defended Jordan and said they understood his reasoning. Several people noted that they had considered taking care of a plant or a pet before having children to test their readiness.
Jordan’s lighthearted approach shows he’s thinking ahead about parenthood, even if it starts with smaller responsibilities. Social media may have mixed reactions, but the actor’s honesty about his life and future plans resonated with many viewers.
