Michael B. Jordan Honors Chadwick Boseman in a Touching Way That Keeps His Late ‘Black Panther’ Friend Close Forever
Michael B. Jordan recently opened up about a personal item that keeps the memory of Chadwick Boseman alive for him. The actor shared the story during an appearance on BAFTA’s Playback video series, which was posted online by BAFTA.
While speaking on camera, Jordan picked up a stuffed black panther and explained why it means so much to him. “I see my guy right here, man,” he said while holding it. “Yeah, as soon as I see this I think of my friend Chadwick Boseman.” He added that the toy reminds him of the time they finally got to work together. “It will forever remind me of him, and the time we had a chance to finally, finally work together.”
Jordan and Boseman starred together in Marvel’s Black Panther in 2018. Jordan played Erik Killmonger, while Boseman played King T’Challa. The film became a cultural moment and made both actors even closer.
Boseman died in August 2020 at the age of 43 after privately battling colon cancer for four years. After his death, Jordan shared a long and emotional tribute on Instagram, reflecting on their friendship and career paths. “I’ve been trying to find the words, but nothing comes close to how I feel,” Jordan wrote at the time, according to his Instagram post. “I wish we had more time.”
In the same post, Jordan said Boseman once told him they were “forever linked,” a message that stayed with him after his passing. He also credited Boseman for helping guide him early in his career and inspiring him to lead with purpose. “You showed me how to be better, honor purpose, and create legacy,” he wrote.
Jordan ended his tribute by calling Boseman a true hero and promising to live with the same grace and courage his friend showed. “Yes. He. Is,” he wrote when referencing Boseman as a king. “Rest in power, brother.”
The BAFTA video arrives during a big moment in Jordan’s career. His latest film, Sinners, recently made awards history by earning 15 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor. Jordan received recognition for playing dual roles as twin brothers in the film, according to awards reports.
Jordan’s story shows how strong real friendships can be, even after loss. The fact that such a small item can hold so much meaning feels very human and honest. What do you think about the way Michael B. Jordan keeps Chadwick Boseman’s memory close? Share your thoughts in the comments.
