Mike White Hints The White Lotus Season 4 Could be In Europe, Here’s Our Best Guess Where
The White Lotus might be leaving the beach behind in its next season. Creator Mike White recently teased a different kind of location for Season 4 of the hit HBO series.
“For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular,” White said after the explosive Season 3 finale. “But there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”
The show’s first three seasons were all set at fancy resorts by the sea — Hawaii, Italy, and most recently, Thailand. Season 4 was confirmed earlier this year, but the location is still a mystery.
There are rumors that the next season could be filmed at a Four Seasons hotel in Europe. “Everything is on the table for next season,” a source told Deadline, though nothing is final yet.
HBO drama chief Francesca Orsi also gave an update, saying, “We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon. I can’t really say where we’re going to land but chances are somewhere in Europe.”
One thing is clear — it probably won’t be a snowy setting. Cast members have said that White doesn’t like cold weather, so a ski resort seems unlikely.
Now let’s take a look at some possible locations that include hot weather and Four Seasons Hotel, a hotel where all the past seasons have been filmed.
1. French Riviera (Cap-Ferrat, France)
The Four Seasons Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat is a stunning hotel on the southern coast of France. It’s right by the sea, has beautiful views, and is full of rich and fancy guests — perfect for the drama of The White Lotus. The French Riviera is also known for its mix of old money, celebrities, and secret scandals.
2. Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon is warm, stylish, and full of culture. The city has a rich history, beautiful streets, and luxury settings that would be great for mystery and chaos. It’s also less “typical beach vacation,” which fits with Mike White’s idea of changing things up.
3. Athens, Greece
The Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens sits by the sea on the Athenian Riviera. It mixes ancient history with modern luxury. Greece has amazing views, delicious food, and an interesting local culture that could create new tensions and stories for the show. Plus, it’s sunny and warm almost all year.
4. Taormina, Sicily (Italy) – Return Option
Yes, Season 2 was in Sicily, but Taormina is such a stunning spot, it could be worth a return — maybe with new characters or as a follow-up to a past mystery. It’s warm, glamorous, and has beautiful ocean views. Also, the hotel is built inside an old monastery, which adds drama and history.
5. Istanbul, Turkey
The city is a mix of Europe and Asia, old and new, tradition and luxury. It offers a lot of culture and beautiful scenery. This location could bring a totally new vibe to the series while still fitting the show’s theme of rich people on vacation — and possibly in trouble.
