‘Modern Family’ Star Sofía Vergara’s (54) Latest Walmart Denim Drop Targets the Dreaded Waist Gap With Budget-Friendly Butt-Lifting Jeans
Celebrity fashion lines come and go, but Sofía Vergara’s Walmart denim collection has proven to have real staying power. The actress first launched Sofía Jeans by Sofía Vergara exclusively on Walmart.com in February 2019, debuting with nearly 100 items that ranged from jeans and denim jackets to fashion tops and graphic tees.
From the start, the line had a personal touch. Each denim style was designed and named after Vergara and the women in her family, featuring details like raw edges and studs, and the ‘Modern Family’ star summed up her love of the fabric simply, telling Walmart: “I live in my jeans!”
Now, the star is going all in on that passion once again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vergara is putting denim at the center of her latest Walmart fashion push, headlined by the brand’s butt-lifting jeans with a contoured fit through the waist, hips, and rear.
That style already has serious shopper backing. It has racked up more than 7,000 reviews on Walmart, with 70% of customers giving the jeans a full 5-star rating. The new release also takes aim at a common frustration for curvy shoppers, the gap that forms at the back of the waistband. The collection comes in several easy-to-wear washes and a full size range from 0 to 20, and it includes denim jackets and shirts alongside the fan-favorite bottoms.
The pricing is where the collection really stands out. While premium denim can easily top $200, Vergara’s signature styles sit at the opposite end of the spectrum. The Melissa High Rise Flare comes in at $28, while the Margot Super Wide Crop and the Margot Seamed Wide Leg both sell for $26.
Beyond jeans, the drop includes a Darted Denim Waist Jacket for $36, along with a Peplum Top and a Cinched Top at $28 each. Fans of past releases aren’t left out either. Returning bestselling denim styles are available right alongside the new pieces, ranging from $24 to $36.
What makes this partnership different from many celebrity tie-ins is its longevity. Rather than a single capsule, Vergara’s relationship with Walmart works as an ongoing label, with seasonal releases covering denim, dresses, tailoring and everyday separates.
The range has grown well beyond jeans over the years. Walmart’s Sofia Vergara Collection page currently lists 139 items, including intimates, pajama sets, bodysuits and swimwear.
That swimwear capsule arrived during a busy stretch for the ‘Griselda’ star, who was also judging her 5th season of ‘America’s Got Talent’ and launching a Colombian coffee line. She even wore a $17 ruched one-shoulder Walmart dress to Chanel’s Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner, proving she genuinely wears her own designs.
Not everyone agrees the jeans live up to the sculpting promise. One LittleThings writer who tested a pair said they didn’t feel particularly butt-sculpting, though she admitted they looked great from certain angles.
Walmart reviews show a similar split. One shopper hoping for more lift said the jeans work best for people with fuller curves, while a longtime fan praised them as comfortable and durable but noted the denim runs thinner than other brands.
Still, the overwhelmingly positive ratings suggest most buyers are happy with what they’re getting for the price. For shoppers who want a flattering fit without the designer price tag, Vergara’s latest denim push looks like an easy win.
