‘Modern Family’ Star Ties the Knot with Lindsay Schweitzer in Intimate Kansas City Wedding
Eric Stonestreet is officially married. The “Modern Family” star tied the knot with Lindsay Schweitzer on September 8 at their Kansas City home, a representative confirmed to PEOPLE. The couple picked the date because it falls between their birthdays.
The newlyweds shared their joy on Instagram the next day. Stonestreet wrote, “It’s my birthday and guess what I got,” alongside photos from their intimate ceremony. In the pictures, the actor wore a navy blazer with a blue tie, while Schweitzer dazzled in a satin gown with a crystal belt.
The couple celebrated with a first dance accompanied by live acoustic music in front of close friends and family.
Colleagues and friends have already congratulated the pair. Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Stonestreet’s co-star on “Modern Family,” commented, “Of all second marriages, this one is my favorite! I love you both! I’m so happy for you!!!!” Ferguson’s husband, Justin Mikita, also shared, “Congrats!” Actress Octavia Spencer added, “Congratulations! So happy for you both.”
Stonestreet had previously shared in July that he and Schweitzer planned to hold their wedding at their new home. “Well, I’ve said we’re building a house to host a wedding, and we’re still on track to do that,” he said. “We got engaged and then all of a sudden got an opportunity to build a house, and I thought, no better way to start a relationship than literally building a foundation.”
The couple met in June 2017 at the Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City. They got engaged in August 2021 after more than five years together. Stonestreet explained his decision to propose, saying, “We’ve been together for a long time and I just knew I wasn’t going to find a better partner in life than Lindsay. So it just made the most sense.”
He described the proposal as low-key and spontaneous, adding, “Impulsive just made it a special moment for her and I.”
Stonestreet has often spoken about Schweitzer’s positive impact on his life. During an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ show in 2017, he said, “She calms me — she calms my nerves. I’m a very high-strung person.” He also praised her parenting skills and sense of humor. “She’s just a good person and a great mom. I joke all the time that she’s uniquely qualified to be my fiancée because she can put up with me.”
The couple’s wedding marks a joyful milestone in their long relationship. They will continue to share their lives in Kansas City, building both a home and a life together.
In my opinion, it’s heartwarming to see Stonestreet and Schweitzer celebrate their love in such a personal and meaningful way. They clearly value family, fun, and honesty in their relationship. What do you think about their wedding? Share your thoughts in the comments.
