Multiple Watchers Reportedly Set to Appear in Upcoming ‘Avengers’ Films!

MCU is slowly preparing for the release of two highly anticipated ‘Avengers’ movies, ‘Doomsday’ and its sequel, ‘Secret Wars.’ Both movies are going to be a part of phase 6 of the MCU and even though we still don’t know what the plot will be, we can assume that the movie will adapt ‘Time Runs Out’ and ‘Secret Wars’ storylines, at least partially.

Marvel Studios first announced ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ in July 2022, with Destin Daniel Cretton set to direct and Jeff Loveness writing. However, by November 2023, both left the project, and Michael Waldron took over as the writer. At the July 2024 SDCC, the film was renamed ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ with Robert Downey Jr. cast as Doctor Doom, replacing Jonathan Majors’s Kang.

The Russo brothers are now directing both movies, and filming is set to begin in March 2025, with a release planned for May 1, 2026. The film will also feature the Fantastic Four, with some of the original cast members returning.

This is as much as we know in the official sense, but if you’ve been following leaks and rumors related to both projects you are likely aware that over 50 characters are rumored to appear in both movies and quite frankly not all of them can be true.

Now popular industry insider, Daniel Richtman added more characters that will reportedly appear in the movies. Richtman published on his Patreon that several Watchers are set to appear in the upcoming ‘Avengers’ films.

Looking at the bigger picture, this does make sense. The Watchers are a group of all-knowing beings from the fifth dimension who watch over the Multiverse. Their mission is to almost exclusively interact with other Watchers and never to meddle in the decision-making process that leads to changes or even the collapse of separate realities with Uatu being the exception as he broke the rules several times.

The Watchers appeared in several movies so far, and their last appearance was in ‘What If…?’ season 3. It makes sense to include them considering that both ‘Avengers’ movies are going to focus on a Multiversal mess, with ‘Secret Wars’ reportedly leading to an entire soft reboot of the franchise.

So far, only a few Watchers have been named within the MCU, Eminence, Executioner, and Incarnate with Uatu being by far the most famous.
