Mushoku Tensei is a Japanese web series written by Rifujin na Magonote and published between November 2012 and April 2015. An anime adaptation aired in two parts, with the first part airing between January and March 2021, while the second part aired from October 2021 to December 2021. A second season has been announced, but we have already decided to go into the future and tell you everything you need to know about a potential third season of Mushoku Tensei.

The third season of Mushoku Tensei still hasn’t been confirmed yet. The first season premiered only a year ago, and with a second season on its way very soon, we don’t know much about the future beyond the planned second season at this very moment. Still, Mushoku Tensei is a very popular series, and based on all the known facts, a third season is highly probable. We just don’t know when.

The rest of this article is going to bring you all the known and unknown information related to ta potential season three of Mushoku Tensei. You’re going to find out about its release date, whether there is a trailer, what the story could be about, the basic cast information, and much more about this intriguing anime series.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 release date

On March 15, 2019, the official website of MF Books announced that an anime adaptation project of the series was in production, without specifying the format. It was with the opening of a site and a dedicated Twitter account that are going to reveal in October 2019 that this is a television series scheduled for 2020; it was directed and written by Manabu Okamoto at Studio Bind with Kazutaka Sugiyama as character designs.

EGG FIRM is also credited for production with Frontier Works for the initial project. Nobuhiro Osawa, president, and producer of EGG FIRM who worked on the Sword Art Online and DanMachi adaptations, entered into talks with Frontier Works to plan this adaptation following his reading of the first twelve volumes which he found interesting in discovering the series in 2018 Studio Bind was created jointly by White Fox and EGG FIRM because they needed a system that would allow them to continue the project in a systematic and long-term way for the animation of this work.

In June 2020, it was announced that the airing of the series is pushed back to 2021. The series is divided into two courses, the first of which of 11 episodes airs in Japan between January 11 and March 22, 2021, on Tokyo MXb, KBS, BS, and a little later on SUN. The second cour, consisting of 12 episodes, was originally scheduled to be broadcast in July 2021, but the latter was finally postponed to October 4, 2021 following certain circumstances. Twenty-three episodes make up the series, divided into four Blu-ray/DVD boxes. An unreleased episode was included in the fourth Blu-ray, it was released on March 16, 2022. On March 6, 2022, it was announced that a second season had been approved

Taking all of this into account, Mushoku Tensei‘s future seems very bright, despite the lack of information about the show’s future after season two. The source works are, as we have said, quite popular, as was the anime series, and the fact that the franchise has a large fanbase, combined with the fact that we have seen the first season relatively recently, with a second on the way, makes us very hopeful. In any case, the earliest we could see a potential second season is 2024, but a more realistic scenario is either late 2024 or even 2025, if it even happens.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 trailer

You now know all the facts and our thoughts related to Mushoku Tensei Season 3, which means that you’ve probably deduced for yourselves that there is no trailer for the third season of Mushoku Tensei. This is because we do not know whether there will even be a third season of the show, which means that a trailer might not appear at all. But, based on all the information we have, this does not seem like a likely outcome.

As we have said, Mushoku Tensei is a very likely candidate for a return. The ongoing manga series still has more material up for adapting and the anime is quite popular as well, enormously so, in fact. Still, we have to wait and see whether there are actual plans for a continuation before we can make a proper prediction. Be that as it may, Mushoku Tensei is currently on a short break until we get more information on the show’s future.

Taking into account everything we’ve said, a trailer for Mushoku Tensei is unlikely to come out this year. The earliest we could see a trailer is late 2023, but we would have to get confirmation of a second season sometime during 2022 or early 2023 for that to happen.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 plot

At this moment, we do not know which parts of the ongoing manga series are going to be adapted in Season 3. Namely, the first season of the anime adapted only a small portion of the series, which means that there are a lot more chapters to adapt. But, at this moment, we cannot really speculate as to what would be the content of season 3, because we don’t even know how much of the plot is going to be adapted in the second season. This is why we have decided to bring you a general overview of the series so you can know what to expect.

An unnamed 34-year-old hikikomori is violently thrown out of his home on the day of his parents’ funeral. Convinced that his life has been meaningless, he sees three teenagers talking. Realizing that they could be hit by an approaching vehicle, he rushes to their aid – hoping to do something useful – and actually manages to save a girl. However, during the rescue attempt, he is seriously injured and dies a little later in the hospital.

Little Rudeus is born to Paul and Zenith Greyrat into a poor, aristocratic family in a medieval fantasy world. It is quickly revealed that he is the reincarnation of 34-year-old Hikikomori, who has retained his knowledge of his previous existence. Rudeus learned to read and learn simple magic formulas at a young age through self-study.

When he blasted a hole in the wall of his house while practicing advanced magic at the age of four, his parents decided to hire the demon Roxy Migurdia as their magic teacher. After completing his own training, Rudeus is still at home teaching his friend Sylphie, an elf girl, magic. He then becomes the teacher of Eris Boreas Greyrat, a relative of the family, to whom he teaches magic, writing, and arithmetic.

When a teleport catastrophe occurs in the region in which Rudeus works as Eris’ teacher, all the people living there are teleported somewhere, Rudeus and Eris end up on the demon continent. On the advice of the mysterious god Hitogami, the two befriend Ruijerd Supardia, a demon of the Supard race. Ruijerd accompanies Rudeus and Eris on their journey home.

The mysterious god gives Rudeus further advice on this journey: Rudeus occasionally meets this god in his dreams. Upon arriving home, a misunderstanding leads Rudeus to believe Eris has rebuffed him, and they separate. Two years later, the incident with Eris caused Rudeus to become impotent. He enrolls at Ranoa Magic University because the mysterious god promises him healing there.

At the magic academy, he meets his childhood friend Sylphie, who heals him and shortly thereafter they both marry. Rudeus receives a request to join his father’s mission to save his mother. Against the god’s advice, Rudeus acquiesces. During the adventure, he meets his former magic teacher, Roxy, and develops romantic feelings for her.

After successfully completing the mission, he takes her as his second wife. Shortly thereafter, he is visited by a dying future version of himself who warns him that the god will kill all the people he cares for. To please the god, he wants to kill his enemy, a warrior named Orsted, but fails in the attempt.

Rudeus then asks Orsted to protect his family and in return becomes his henchman. Shortly thereafter, Rudeus marries Eris. Orsted explains to Rudeus that he’s tried over and over again to kill Hitogami but failed every time, so he jumps back in time to try again. It is now also clear that both opponents are subject to various restrictions.

Orstead is burdened with several curses and while Hitogami can see into the future, he can only rely on three supporters at a time. After Rudeus joins Orstead, Rudeus, his family, and friends repel various attacks from Hitogami’s supporters, setting the stage for Orstead’s victory in the future.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 cast

It’s still too early for us to discuss a potential third season of Mushoku Tensei in terms of cast and characters, simply because we do not know whether there will even be a third season. But, seeing how we know that the series is going to have a more-or-less fixed cast, we really don’t expect to see too many changes in the structure of season three, if it ever happens. Now, the main characters that have appeared in seasons one and two, likely to return for a third season, include:

Where to watch Mushoku Tensei Season 3?

At this moment, as expected, there is no means of watching Mushoku Tensei season three, as there is no season three of Mushoku Tensei to watch. The first two seasons were streamed globally by Crunchyroll and Funimation, the two biggest anime players on the Internet, so it is safe to assume that both Crunchyroll and Funimation would stream the third season if it ever happens.

Will there be a Mushoku Tensei Season 4?

The future of Mushoku Tensei is, as of this moment, unknown. At this moment, we don’t really know anything about a third season, so whether we’ll be seeing the fourth season or not is still unknown. The series has done well and there is still a lot of material to adapt, which is a good sign for fans of Mushoku Tensei, but we are going to have to wait and see how the situation with season three evolves to know more about a potential season four, although it is likely.
