Welcome to the Ending Explained for My Dad the Bounty Hunter, a new CGI animated series coming to Netflix this week. The series stars a fantastic cast of black actors, making a solid stand in the representation front behind the camera. The series tells the story of Sean and Lisa, siblings who have a strained relationship with their dad until they discover that their dad is, in fact, one of the most respected bounty hunters in the galaxy. This discovery will take them to space and beyond.

My Dad the Bounty Hunter is a solid space adventure focusing on the family as the most important thing anyone can have. The setup to the story is quite classic, and you might have seen it countless times before, and yet it works. The world’s design is fantastic, and the adventure takes us to many different places, all of them unique. However, the character design is lacking, as they look the same as any other CGI animated production of the last two decades. It really makes you wonder if this is the easiest way to make CGI-animated characters or what? Why is this the standardized look?

How Do Sean and Lisa End Up In Space?

The series begins with the introduction of Sean and Lisa, two siblings, as they prepare to spend their weekend with their father, Terry. Sean is a bit of a weird kid; he is innocent and wants to make friends, but it seems that no matter what he does, he ends up feeling like an outcast. This is a shame because it is clear that Sean has a lot to give, but he doesn’t have the chance to. While playing video games with some other kids, he gets kicked out of the group because he fails at the game.

Sean’s sister, Lisa, is another extreme case. She is quite smart, and unlike Sean, she is very confident in herself. However, she is a bit of a hustler as well, and this has led to her having problems at school. For example, recently, she established a gambling den in the school and ended up taking all the other kids’ money. Of course, the other kids’ parents were furious, and Lisa got in trouble. Terry and his wife Tess, who are not divorced, but going through a separation, don’t know what to do with their kids.

Terry tries to get close to them, but he has been the absent father so far. His job always takes priority, and he receives contact calls to go to work. This weekend was supposed to be special as it was Sean’s birthday, but as it was expected, Terry received a call. This time it is a direct visit from a very creepy man, but the pay is good. Terry needs to leave, even when neither Sean nor Terry like the man who gave him the job. Sean is sad that their father is leaving, but Lisa gets an idea, and they hide in Terry’s care before he leaves.

Terry departs with the kids hidden in the trunk. When the car stops, the kids get out, only to find that they are in a spaceship. They also find their father dressed in armor. They are in space and discover that their father is a bounty hunter, one of the most respected ones in the galaxy. The shock is understandable. Together, they embark on an adventure to find Terry’s target and go back home before the weekend is over.

Do Dad And The Kids Return On Time To Earth?

After many adventures, Terry and the kids get caught in the battle for the liberation of a planet. They also end up fighting against Terry’s employer, the organization The Conglomerate. Terry and the kids actually become friends with their target and help her liberate and save an entire planet. They become heroes, and they make powerful connections with other beings. It all seems like a happy ending. However, their mother, Tess, sends a text.

Tess is getting ready to go to Terry’s place and pick up the kids. Tess is ignorant that during the entire weekend, Terry and the kids have been in space battling an evil organization and many more other dangerous things. Terry and the kids get alarmed by this. They say their goodbyes to their new friends and then embark on their new spaceship. They travel as fast as they can, and they do arrive home on time. However, as they enter the house, we see that Tess is seeing them enter, all dressed in alien clothing.

Tess is angry because Terry broke his promise and took the children into space. Sean and Lisa don’t understand. The truth is that Tess knows about Terry being a space bounty hunter. In fact, Terry tells everything to the kids, and it is revealed that Tess was once Terry’s target on a job, but they end up falling in love with each other and deciding to start a new life on Earth. However, when the kids came, Terry started bounty hunting again to put food on the table. Terry promises Tess that he is ready to do the work and spend more time with her and the kids.

The reconciliation is cut short when the fixer who gave Terry the job in the first place reappears. However, this time he is coming to kill Terry for not doing the job how he was supposed to. A big battle starts inside the house and outside of it. The creature is a sort of reptilian and can regrow his lost limbs. In the end, the family uses the warp fuel to make the creature disappear. The day is won, but the danger is far from gone. The season ends with an alarm being sent to deep space about the fixer being killed. Who is going to come to collect it? We have to wait for the next season to see it.
