The eighth episode of My Hero Academia’s final season, titled Izuku Midoriya Rising, has become 2025’s highest-rated TV episode on IMDb, earning a score of 9.9 out of 10.

The episode, which is number 167 overall, delivers an emotional and action-packed conclusion to one of the series’ most iconic story arcs.

In this episode, Deku faces his longtime rival, Shigaraki, just as All For One returns to claim what he believes is rightfully his.

Deku is not alone in the fight—Aizawa and the remaining heroes step in to support him. Fans saw a final showdown as Deku, his friends, and classmates join forces to stop the villains and bring the war to an end. “It might have been too late to actually save Shigaraki from himself, but Deku still can consider this a victory because he brought an end to the rampage,” the episode summary notes.

The clash between Deku and Shigaraki has been building since the very beginning of the series, and this episode gives fans a satisfying emotional payoff.

While the major battle concludes, the story of Deku and his friends is not over. My Hero Academia’s final season will continue with three more episodes, with the series finale scheduled to release on December 13, in Japan.

The upcoming episodes will adapt the final chapters of Kohei Horikoshi’s manga, showing the aftermath of the war and how the characters deal with its consequences. Although the climactic battle is finished, there is still more story to explore in the final episodes.
