The final season of My Hero Academia is set to be shorter than many fans expected. According to the official website, the anime will be released in two home media volumes in Japan, confirming that it will run for only a single cour of 11 or 12 episodes.

This means that when the Fall 2025 schedule wraps up, the beloved series will officially come to an end.

Previous seasons often ran for multiple cours, spreading the story over many months, but the finale will take a more condensed approach.

The exact number of episodes has not been confirmed by the home media releases, leaving a small mystery for viewers who want to know how long the story will stretch.

The eighth season, also called My Hero Academia: Final Season, is produced by Bones Film and directed by Kenji Nagasaki as chief director, alongside Naomi Nakayama. It adapts the story from the 40th through 42nd volumes of Kōhei Horikoshi’s manga, covering chapters 399–431.

In July, Horikoshi confirmed that he would be heavily involved in the production, providing new original scenes that were not included in the manga.

The season premiered on October 4, and picks up where season seven left off. It follows the final battles between the Heroes and Villains, including Izuku Midoriya versus Tomura Shigaraki, and All Might against All For One.

With the fate of the world at stake, both sides push themselves to their limits. The season also explores the future of hero society and how the characters’ lives will unfold.

Streaming will be available outside Asia through Crunchyroll, while Medialink holds the license for the Asia-Pacific region. The opening theme song is “The Revo” by Porno Graffitti, who also performed “The Day” for the first season. The ending theme is “I” by Bump of Chicken.

For fans, the news of a shorter final season is bittersweet. While it promises to deliver the climactic battles fans have been waiting for, the condensed length means the story will conclude more quickly than expected.
