‘Narcos’ Star Expresses Interest in Playing MCU’s Jean Grey

Lux Pascal is making big moves in her acting career. She’s a Juilliard-trained actress, and also the sister of Pedro Pascal, one of Hollywood’s most popular actors right now. And now, she’s getting ready for her first big leading role in a movie.
The film is called Miss Carbón, and it’s coming to Netflix in the U.S. later this year after first releasing in theaters in Spain. Set in 2008 and based on a true story, the movie follows Carlita Rodríguez, a trans woman who became the first female coal miner in her town of Río Turbio, Argentina. Lux plays Carlita and says she wasn’t sure about taking the role at first.
“I was a little bit afraid of it because I really wanted to expand my possibilities as an actress,” she explained. Even though she had already played many different female characters during her time at Juilliard, she hesitated because the story focuses on Carlita’s transition.
But after meeting the real Carlita and learning more about her life, Lux changed her mind. “When I met her, I was mesmerized by this air of disappointment of how the world has treated her,” she said. “I didn’t want to shy away from showing how sometimes that sadness is just impossible to hide.”
Like Carlita, Lux sees herself as a survivor. She grew up in Orange County, California, as the youngest of four kids. Her father had escaped Chile during the Pinochet dictatorship, and her mother passed away when Lux was only seven. “We all have trauma,” she said. “And I know my own trauma, and I survived it.”
Lux is now working on her first leading role in an English-language romantic comedy called Love & Chaos, which is being filmed in Montreal. The director, Drew Denny, said, “She’s a tremendous listener with a deliciously dark sense of humor.” But Lux isn’t stopping at indie films. She’s also got her sights set on something bigger, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
She’s especially interested in playing Jean Grey from the X-Men. “I feel so connected to her, both physically and mentally, and how she becomes Phoenix because she’s corrupted by the world,” Lux said. She’s trained in martial arts and is hoping for a chance to join the superhero world soon.
Besides Marvel, she’s also got her eye on horror movies and even The Lord of the Rings. “I would really love to kill as an elf,” she joked.
And yes, she wants to work with her brother Pedro again someday. He’s actually joining the MCU himself in a few short weeks as part of The Fantastic Four. “It would be beautiful to finally engage in the conversations we would have when I was a kid and he was a young adult, and we were both dreaming about movies,” she said. Pedro’s already a fan of Miss Carbón and said, “Seeing Miss Carbón feels like a rehearsal for us.”
As for the future of the X-Men in the Marvel Universe, fans have been waiting for years. Back in 2019, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that mutants would eventually be part of the MCU. He said that the words “mutants” and “X-Men” could be used in the same way, and that their version of the team would be different from the older Fox movies.
The new X-Men movie is finally moving forward. In 2023, Marvel started meeting with writers. Then, in 2024, Michael Lesslie was in talks to write the script and was confirmed in 2025. Jake Schreier, who worked on Thunderbolts*, is now set to direct. That movie is coming out in 2025, and people are already excited about his work.
Now that everything is starting to come together, fans are wondering who will be cast as the iconic characters, especially Jean Grey. Let’s hope Kevin Feige is watching closely.
