Natasha Lyonne Teases Interstellar Vibes and Surprises in ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’

‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ is one of the most awaited movies in the MCU, coming to theaters on July 25, 2025. Early set leaks suggest that things are looking great for the film.
The movie will take place in an alternate reality where the Fantastic Four are already a well-known team and will feature some of their most famous villains.
The cast includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, with Moss-Bachrach using CGI and performance capture for his role.
Our main cast will be joined by Natasha Lyonne. Lyonne’s role in the movie is so far unknown, but the actress recently debuted in the MCU during the final season of ‘What If…?,’ as she portrays Byrdie the Duck, daughter of Darcy and Howard the Duck.
Lyonne shared her excitement about joining the movie, hinting at its cosmic themes and jokingly referencing her involvement in the ‘Smurfs’ movie, suggesting a quirky mash-up scenario if the two worlds collided.
I’m very moved that they want me to be in that movie. It is all very interstellar-type stuff, coming at it from different directions. I’m also in the Smurfs movie, and actually some stuff does happen that’s… I don’t want to get into it, because I’ll get in trouble. But assuming that I’m dead by 8:45 p.m. tonight and they have to cut the movies together in a mash-up, it will all marry well, I think.
While we’re waiting to see who Lyonne is really playing, a large part of the fanbase believes she will reprise her ‘What If…?’ role in live-action. Aside from ‘Fantastic Four,’ Lyonne is set to voice “Doom” in the animated sequel ‘The Bad Guys 2,’ which is currently in production. She will also appear as a shopkeeper in the upcoming film ‘Klara and the Sun,’ now in post-production.
