Netflix Adds Hit Crime Series With 92% Rotten Tomatoes Score to Its Lineup
If you’re searching for your next crime series to binge on Netflix, there’s a new addition that might catch your attention. Netflix has recently added all four seasons of The Sinner, a mystery series that’s been praised by both critics and viewers. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the show has a strong 92% score, so chances are high you’ll enjoy it if you’re a fan of darker stories with a twist.
The Sinner originally aired on USA Network and now all 32 episodes are available on Netflix. The show stars Bill Pullman as Detective Harry Ambrose, who investigates crimes that don’t always seem like typical cases. His character is known for getting emotionally involved with the people he investigates, often trying to understand why they committed their crimes rather than just focusing on how.
The series was created by Derek Simonds and is based on a novel by Petra Hammesfahr. While the first season was supposed to be just a miniseries, it became popular enough for USA Network to turn it into an anthology series that ran for four seasons between 2017 and 2021. According to Netflix, the first season got plenty of praise and awards attention, including Golden Globe nominations and a Primetime Emmy nomination for Jessica Biel, who starred in the first season.
Each season tells a different story. The first follows Ambrose as he investigates why a woman named Cora stabbed a man, even though she didn’t seem like someone who would do something like that. In season two, Ambrose returns to his hometown where a young boy confesses to poisoning a couple, and secrets start to come out.
The third season starts with what looks like a simple car accident, but it leads to a more disturbing story. In the final season, Ambrose is retired but ends up getting pulled into another case when tragedy strikes in a small town in Maine.
Bill Pullman is the only actor who appears in every season, while the rest of the cast changes with each new mystery. Jessica Hecht also plays an important role in seasons three and four as Sonya Barzel.
If you like crime stories that focus more on why people commit crimes rather than just solving them, The Sinner might be worth checking out. Netflix now has all four seasons ready to stream.
