Netflix has given new life to a beloved romantic comedy series that HBO Max canceled nearly three years ago. The streamer announced on Tuesday that both seasons of Love Life are now available to watch, marking the show’s big return to a major platform.

The series first premiered in 2020 and works as an anthology, with each season following a different person from their very first romance to their very last.

The first season starred Anna Kendrick, best known for Pitch Perfect, alongside Zoë Chao, Sasha Compére, and Peter Vack. Narration was done by Lesley Manville. Season 2 brought in a new lead, William Jackson Harper from The Good Place, with Jessica Williams, Comedian CP, and Punkie Johnson joining the cast. This time, the narrator was Keith David.

While Season 1 had mixed reviews, holding a 63% score on Rotten Tomatoes, Season 2 was a major hit with critics, earning a 95% rating and the “Certified Fresh” label.

Fans were hopeful for a third season, but HBO Max surprised viewers in December 2022 by canceling the show over a year after Season 2 aired. To make matters worse, both seasons were completely removed from the service.

That made the cancellation sting even more for those who had grown attached to the heartfelt, often funny stories the show told.

Many viewers felt the show still had more to offer, and the strong reception to the second season only fueled that belief. The news that Netflix has picked up the series for streaming is now giving fans a second chance to revisit it, or discover it for the first time.

The Love Life revival comes as part of Netflix’s August 2025 lineup. Other additions include Clueless, Fire Country Season 2, Wet Hot American Summer, Sullivan’s Crossing Season 3, and both seasons of Quantum Leap. While Netflix has not confirmed any plans to continue Love Life, the streamer’s track record shows that strong performance numbers can sometimes lead to new seasons for previously canceled shows.

The series was one of several casualties of HBO Max’s 2022 content purge, which also saw Gordita Chronicles and Minx removed from the service. Minx even had its second season renewal reversed.

For fans, seeing Love Life return is more than just a nostalgic streaming update, it’s a small victory. And if enough people tune in, Netflix could very well decide the show’s love story isn’t over just yet.
