Wednesday is officially returning, and Netflix just gave fans their first look at Season 2. The long-awaited trailer promises more horror, more mystery, and a darker Wednesday Addams than ever before.

The first season of Wednesday became a major hit when it premiered in November 2022. Jenna Ortega, who plays the title role, got a ton of praise for her performance. The show quickly became Netflix’s second-most-watched English-language series within just three weeks of its release. It even picked up two Golden Globe nominations and won four Primetime Emmy Awards.

Now, the show is coming back with a second season that’s split into two parts. According to Netflix, Part One will drop on August 6, 2025, and Part Two on September 3, 2025. Filming wrapped in December 2024, after production kicked off earlier that year in Ireland.

Jenna Ortega will return as Wednesday and this time, she’s also taking on the role of executive producer. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ortega shared that Season 2 will be “leaning into the horror aspect” and moving away from romance, saying her character will “ditch any romantic love interest.”

The show’s creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, also said the new episodes will focus more on the bond between Wednesday and Enid, and explore Wednesday’s complicated relationship with her mother, Morticia.

Familiar cast members like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Christina Ricci, and Fred Armisen will be back. But fans can also expect big new names. Steve Buscemi joins the cast as the new principal of Nevermore Academy. Thandiwe Newton, Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley, and even Lady Gaga are on board too, though most of their roles are still under wraps.

There was some talk last year about Ortega leaving Scream 7 because of her schedule for Wednesday, but she later told the press that wasn’t true. Instead, she said she walked away from that movie after key members of the team behind it also left.

Whether you’re here for the gothic vibes, the chilling mysteries, or just Wednesday’s deadpan charm, Season 2 is shaping up to be bigger, darker, and a little weirder than before. And based on the trailer, fans are in for something wild.
