Fans have been hoping for this casting for a long time, and now it’s official. Many agree that Xolo fits the role perfectly
Portgas D. Ace is one of the most important characters in One Piece. He’s not only a strong pirate and a user of the Fire-Fire Fruit, but he’s also Luffy’s older brother and a major part of his story. Fans who know the anime and manga understand how emotional and action-packed Ace’s moments can be, which makes this casting even more exciting.
Xolo Maridueña has already proven his talent in multiple roles. He became a household name after playing Miguel Diaz in Cobra Kai, and more recently, he took on the lead role of Jaime Reyes in DC’s Blue Beetle. He’s also done voice work in popular shows like Invincible, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, and Fast & Furious Spy Racers.
The announcement follows another major casting reveal, Tony Award-winning actor Cole Escola was recently confirmed to play Bon Clay, also known as Mr. 2. With big names joining the cast and production for season 3 moving forward, the live-action One Piece series seems ready to keep its momentum going strong.
