Netflix Releases First Trailer For Its Debut ‘Sesame Street’ Season
Netflix is bringing Sesame Street to a whole new generation. On Monday, the streaming service released the trailer for its first season of the show, which is actually the 56th season overall of the classic preschool series.
The new season will premiere in exactly one week. You can check out the trailer on YouTube.
According to Netflix, the updated version of Sesame Street will focus on more playful storytelling and added comedy. Episodes will be released in batches of four over three separate premieres. The show’s first guest star in this new season is NASCAR champion Bubba Wallace, a familiar face for many parents.

“Season 56 reimagines Sesame Street, inviting children into the action and bringing them hand-in-hand through high-stakes stories, powerful learning moments and laugh-out-loud surprises,” said Sal Perez, executive producer of Sesame Street. “As always, Sesame Street’s curriculum is designed to meet children’s most pressing needs — so our focus this season is on kindness and compassion, something we can all use more of today.”
Each episode will run for 30 minutes, a change from the hour-long format used before 2016. The new head writer for the series is Halcyon Person, who previously worked on Netflix’s animated shows Karma’s World (2021) and Dee & Friends in Oz (2024). The upcoming season will also be available in more than 30 languages.
Sesame Street first aired on November 10, 1969, and now, 56 years later, it is entering its new era on Netflix.
