Developed by Bandai Namco Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, the Tekken franchise kicked off in 1994 with the original game released exclusively for PlayStation and Arcade. The original game spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs, and the latest game, Tekken 7, was released in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and it was also the first game of the franchise that was released for PC.

Netflix announced the anime series with a teaser trailer, and it’s set to be released by the end of this year. The series will follow Jin Kazama as he’s trying to increase his fighting skills and power under the brutal tutorage of his grandfather Heihachi Mishima. Mortal Kombat vs Tekken: Which Is the Ultimate Fighting Game?

“Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament. — Tekken: Bloodline, official synopsis

Tekken franchise was previously adapted into a live-action movie of the same name, which was released in 2009, directed by Dwight H. Little. The movie received negative reviews and was a box-office bomb with only $1.7 million grossed against the budget of $30 million. The movie also spawned the prequel Tekken 2: Kazuya’s Revenge in 2014, which was also a huge flop. Let’s hope the franchise will have more luck with the anime series.
