The show is based on novels written by A. J. Quinnell. The story draws from the books Man on Fire and The Perfect Kill, which are part of a larger five-book series. These novels have already inspired earlier screen adaptations.
One of the most well-known versions came in 2004 with the action film Man on Fire starring Denzel Washington. The story was also adapted earlier in a 1987 Italian film with the same title.
The new Netflix series brings together a large cast. Alongside Abdul-Mateen II, the show features Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, Paul Ben‑Victor and Billie Boullet.
Behind the scenes, the project is led by writer and showrunner Kyle Killen, who previously worked on series such as Halo and Awake. Several producers are also involved in the production, including Arnon Milchan, Peter Chernin and others from companies such as New Regency Productions and Chernin Entertainment.
The first two episodes of the series were directed by Steven Caple Jr., who is also one of the executive producers. Caple Jr. is known for directing films like Creed II and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
The release of the teaser has already started conversation among fans of the original books and earlier film versions. Many viewers are curious to see how the new series will expand the story and explore Creasy’s character in more depth over multiple episodes.
Turning this story into a series could be a smart move. The character of Creasy has a complex past, and a longer format may give the creators more time to show his struggles and growth. Fans of action dramas will probably be watching closely when the show arrives on Netflix. What do you think about a new Man on Fire series? Are you excited to see this story return?
