The new season, officially titled The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol, marks the return of Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier.
McBride was originally planned to appear in the first season, but logistical issues prevented her from participating at the time. With this season, she joins the series as a regular cast member, bringing back the dynamic that fans had anticipated from the show’s inception.
Alongside Reedus and McBride, the series introduces a host of new characters portrayed by actors including Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laïka Blanc-Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi, Adam Nagaitis, Joel de la Fuente, Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, Alexandra Masangkay, Hugo Arbués, and Candela Saitta. Filming for the series began in Paris in late 2022, following the show’s development starting in September 2020.
The first season of Daryl Dixon premiered on September 10, 2023, with six episodes, and Netflix quickly renewed the series for a second season in July 2023. The second season premiered on September 29, 2024. Following its success, the show has already been renewed for a third season, which debuted on September 7, and a fourth and final season is scheduled, with the announcement made in July.
The series continues to expand The Walking Dead universe while keeping the story connected to the original show. Fans of the franchise can follow Daryl’s journey in a new setting, experiencing both familiar faces and new threats in post-apocalyptic France.
