Netflix is about to lose a huge chunk of its animation lineup, including nearly all the Shrek and Despicable Me movies, just weeks after some of these films arrived on the platform. According to Netflix, Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Puss in Boots will all leave the service on November 1st. That leaves only Shrek: Forever After available to stream.

The Despicable Me franchise is also affected. Netflix confirmed that three of the five film, Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, and Minions, will be removed on October 31st. Despicable Me 3 and Despicable Me 4 will remain for now.

These franchises have rotated in and out of Netflix before, but losing so many titles at once is likely to frustrate fans. Many of the Shrek movies only recently joined the service, which makes their departure even more noticeable.

Interestingly, the Shrek movies leaving Netflix will also be removed from Peacock on the same day. This could mean that some of these films are only available for a limited time through purchase or rental. It’s unclear where the movies will be streaming next, as most services haven’t released their November schedules yet.

For fans who rely on streaming to watch their favorite animated films, this marks a frustrating gap. Popular franchises like Shrek and Despicable Me have been a staple for many families, and now viewers may need to turn to digital purchases or wait for a new streaming home.
