Netflix Smash With 95% Audience Score Renewed Early for Season 3
Netflix has confirmed that its live-action One Piece series will be sailing on for a third season. The announcement was made during this year’s One Piece Day in Tokyo, the annual celebration of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga. The best part for fans is that this news comes before season 2 has even hit screens.
According to Netflix, filming for season 3 will begin later this year in Cape Town, South Africa. Ian Stokes will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Tracz is already serving in those roles for season 2 alongside Matt Owens, but Owens will not be returning for the next chapter.
Season 2 is set to arrive in 2026, and Netflix has already given fans a taste of what’s to come. The show follows Monkey D. Luffy, played by Iñaki Godoy, a young pirate with a dream of becoming the King of the Pirates.
His goal is to find the legendary treasure known as the One Piece, left behind by the infamous Gold Roger, played by Michael Dorman. Luffy’s journey is shared with his loyal Straw Hat crew: swordsman Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), navigator Nami (Emily Rudd), sharpshooter Usopp (Jacob Romero), and cook Sanji (Taz Skylar).

The new season will see the crew heading into far more dangerous territory. Netflix describes it by saying, “Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.” The streamer also promises “fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet.”
One Piece is produced by Tomorrow Studios in partnership with Shueisha and Netflix. Alongside Tracz and Stokes, the list of executive producers includes Oda himself, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda.
The series has been praised for bringing Oda’s world to life while staying true to the heart of the original story. The early season 3 renewal shows Netflix’s confidence in the series and its growing fan base around the world.
For now, fans can look forward to season 2’s release in 2026, knowing that more adventures are already locked in. Luffy’s quest for the One Piece isn’t slowing down, and the Straw Hats are set to face even greater challenges when they venture deeper into the Grand Line.
