Christine Boylan, known for Poker Face and Once Upon a Time, is executive producer and writer, while Jabbar Raisani (Lost in Space, Stranger Things) is executive producer and director. The series also has Anu Menon, Amit Gupta, and Hiromi Kamata as directors.
Season 1 premiered on February 22, 2024, and quickly became a global hit. Netflix reported that the show received 41.1 million views in its first 11 days, ranking number one in 76 countries and placing in the top 10 in 92 countries. The success led Netflix to renew the show for Seasons 2 and 3, which will complete the story.
Executive producers Boylan and Raisani said, “We’re looking forward to working with all of our actors again and digging into the deeper, more complicated relationships that develop as their journey continues in Season 2. We are going to show the real-world versions of iconic scenes from the original, and explore some of the stories that the animation didn’t. Mainly, we’re looking forward to seeing our gang all together again.”
New cast members joining Season 2 include Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong, Dolly de Leon as Lo and Li, Lily Gao as Ursa, Madison Hu as Fei, and Dichen Lachman as Yangchen. For Season 3, Jon Jon Briones will play Piandao, and Tantoo Cardinal will appear as Hama.
