Netflix’s Live-Action ‘One Piece’ Confirms Season 2 Release Window!

Netflix's Live-Action 'One Piece' Confirms Season 2 Release Window!

It is a well-known fact that Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga became a massive hit and is still regarded as the best live-action adaptation of an anime to date. The series was a massive hit, so we were not surprised when the series was renewed for a second season. As of the time of writing, the fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of Season 2 on the popular streaming platform, and while a precise date has not been set, we can confirm that Netflix has revealed that the second season of the live-action One Piece series will premiere in 2025, which means that there won’t be any major delays.

The live-action series premiered on August 31, 2023, on Netflix and currently consists of eight episodes. It is expected that the series will resume filming in June 2024, which will give the studio enough time to make a great new season that will be ready to hit the service in 2025.

Alongside this important confirmation, we can also confirm that Joe Tracz (Percy Jackson and the Olympians co-executive producer) will also be joining the series as writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner with Matt Owens (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Luke Cage writer), as has been officially confirmed by Netflix. Steve Maeda, who has developed the series with Owens and served as co-showrunner in the first season, will still remain on the show, but as an executive producer. Tomorrow Studios (Cowboy Bebop live-action, Snowpiercer) will also remain as the co-producing company alongside Netflix.

Casting information is still quite scarce, so we don’t have any updates in that aspect, as no new names have been revealed, despite the fact that the second season will undoubtedly feature numerous new characters. The list of returning cast members includes the following names:

  • Iñaki Godoy as Luffy
  • Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro
  • Emily Rudd as Nami
  • Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp
  • Taz Skylar as Sanji
  • Morgan Davies as Koby
  • Vincent Regan as Monkey D. Garp
  • Jeff Ward as Buggy the Clown

Of course, this is still early information, and we are sure that Netflix will provide us with more and more updates as the premiere date comes near, so we can expect more news in the upcoming months, especially in terms of the cast, as new names are going to be revealed. We know what to expect from the plot, so we can also anticipate which characters might appear in the new season, but more on that at a later date.

This is what we have for you at this moment, but be sure to keep following us here on Anime Horizon, as we are going to bring you all the news as soon as they arrive.
