Netflix’s May 2026 Anime Lineup: 10 Shows Fans Need to Watch

Netflix is preparing a strong anime lineup for May 2026, and while the month does not bring many brand-new series, it focuses on adding well-known titles and returning favorites. According to What’s on Netflix, the platform is expanding its catalog with a mix of popular shows and new seasons that many fans have been waiting for.

The biggest wave of releases will arrive on May 1. This includes Assassination Classroom Season 1, a well-known action drama that has stayed popular for years.

On the same day, Detective Conan Season 3 will also be added, continuing the rollout of one of the longest-running anime franchises.

Fans of One Piece will get more episodes from the Whole Cake Island arc.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 finally joins the U.S. library after being available in other regions.

Another title arriving at the start of the month is Shangri-La Frontier Season 1, an action fantasy series that has gained a strong following since its original release. These early May additions show Netflix focusing on building up its anime library with proven hits rather than only new releases.

Later in the month, Netflix will release Devil May Cry Season 2 on May 12. This is one of the platform’s exclusive titles, and the new season is expected to continue the story with more focus on Dante and his brother Vergil.

Toward the end of May, more major titles arrive. Blue Lock Season 2 will be available on May 24.

Followed by My Dress-Up Darling Season 1 and Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 on May 25.

The final addition comes on May 27 with Akane-banashi, a newer series that focuses on the art of storytelling in Japan. This title brings something different compared to the action-heavy lineup, offering a more character-driven story.ž

Even though May does not introduce many completely new anime, the lineup still stands out because of the mix of major franchises and fan favorites. Many of these shows already have strong followings, which could make this one of Netflix’s most watched anime months this year.
