Netflix’s ‘Take Charge of My Heart’ Release Date, Trailer, Cast, and Plot Explained
Netflix has set an October 9 premiere for ‘Take Charge of My Heart’, a Korean romantic comedy about a man whose artificial heart is running out of battery and a woman with the power to recharge him. The series is based on a web novel and arrives with a teaser trailer and poster already released.
Kim Young Kwang and Chae Soo Bin both return to the romantic comedy genre in ‘Take Charge of My Heart’. The pairing gives the series a familiar genre foundation, while the premise adds a supernatural twist. Here is what has been confirmed about the release, the footage, the performers and the story.
‘Take Charge of My Heart’ Release Date and Episode Count
Netflix has confirmed that the series premieres on October 9. One report says all 12 episodes will be released at the same time, with each running about one hour and ten minutes. Netflix is the exclusive global platform for the show.
The date was not always settled. Netflix first confirmed through its Korea slate that the series would arrive in the final quarter of the year. Expectations later pointed to late October or November, until Joy News reported that the premiere would land on October 9.
The change came as Netflix adjusted its October schedule, moving the premiere of ‘Take Charge of My Heart’ up while pushing back the fantasy horror series ‘Dead-End Job’. That rescheduling leaves the romance series with an earlier slot in the month.
Take Charge of My Heart Trailer and Teaser Details
Netflix confirmed the release date in early September alongside a teaser, a poster and an official trailer of one minute and 27 seconds, which was published on the Netflix K-Content YouTube channel. The footage serves as the main preview of the tone viewers can expect.
The teaser begins with a secret confession from Na Bo Bae, who developed mysterious electrical powers after being struck by lightning as a child. That origin sets up the central gimmick quickly and gives the romance its unusual physical stakes.
The teaser also shows the two leads meeting again at a hospital, where Ho Rang undergoes a final surgery to swap his artificial heart’s battery for a high power one. The scene establishes how much depends on the connection between the two characters.
Take Charge of My Heart Cast and Characters
Kim Young Kwang plays Baek Ho Rang, a third generation chaebol heir who leads a resort for one of the nation’s top conglomerates. He is a skilled businessman, but his one weakness is the artificial heart beating beneath his polished image. Kim is known for ‘Trigger’ and ‘On Your Wedding Day’.
Chae Soo Bin takes on the role of Na Bo Bae, a screenwriter who must finish a romance screenplay before her contract expires. Her previous work includes ‘When the Phone Rings’ and ‘The Fabulous’.
The supporting cast includes Cha Woo Min of ‘Melo Movie’ as Ji Eun Ho and Jung Jae Kwang of ‘Idol I’ as Choi Do Yun. Shin Do Hyun is also listed among the cast.
Take Charge of My Heart Plot and Source Material
Ho Rang needs Bo Bae to keep his heart going for three months until he can receive another surgery, which he wants so that he can take over TS Group. Amid fierce power struggles and a dwindling battery, he offers her a contract she cannot refuse.
Bo Bae has her own three month clock, since her writer contract is nearly up and she has to produce a good romance despite never having dated anyone because of her electric touch. The two timelines run in parallel, which gives the story a built in sense of urgency.
The series is directed by Park Soo Won, written by Song You Chae and produced by New Point and Whynot Media, and it is based on a Naver web novel by Haebeon. Park previously directed ‘Birthcare Center’, and the series was formerly titled ‘Recharge Me’. Filming had been ongoing since July of last year. With the premiere this close, readers who have watched the teaser may want to say in the comments whether a three month contract between Ho Rang and Bo Bae feels like enough time for this romance to land.
