Every quarter, Netflix’s shareholder letter doubles as a sneak peek at what’s coming to subscribers, and this time the Netflix year-end slate is the headline act. The streamer released its third-quarter results on October 20, and the numbers set the tone for a busy holiday stretch.

Q3 revenue grew 12% year over year to $12.9 billion, in line with forecasts, while operating margin climbed to 34.6% from 28.2% a year earlier. Even so, CNBC reported that shares fell more than 6% on a lower-than-hoped Q4 revenue outlook, with investors watching engagement closely.

To keep viewers hooked, Netflix used its latest letter to spotlight a packed final quarter. On the series side, highlights include the final season of ‘Emily in Paris’, new seasons of ‘The Diplomat’ and ‘The Empress’, and ‘Lupin: Part 4’.

New titles round out the TV lineup. ‘East of Eden’, ‘The Body’, ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2, a UK take on ‘Pride and Prejudice’, and the Canadian series ‘Below’ are all on deck, alongside the limited series ‘The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey’ starring Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen.

The letter also name-checked a new season of ‘Nobody Wants This’. On the earnings call, executives noted the quarter was already off to a strong start with ‘East of Eden’. The biggest film on the slate is easily ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’. Brad Pitt returns to his Oscar-winning role in the David Fincher-directed film written by Quentin Tarantino, set in 1977 in a very different Hollywood.

The movie gets an exclusive 2-week global IMAX run starting November 25 before arriving on Netflix on December 23. Interestingly, that IMAX slot was originally earmarked for Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew’, which was pushed to February for a full wide theatrical release.

The rest of the film slate is just as eclectic. Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington headline ‘Animals’, Brad Bird directs Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell in ‘Ray Gunn’, and Cameron Diaz stars in ‘Bad Day’.

Animation fans get ‘Steps’, featuring Ali Wong, Stephanie Hsu, and Amanda Seyfried. Netflix is also backing 2 international Oscar submissions, Spain’s ‘La Bola Negra’ and South Korea’s ‘Possible Love’.

Live events may be the real draw this time. Netflix called it its biggest quarterly live slate to date, anchored by the NFL’s inaugural Thanksgiving Eve game, which will feature a halftime show by U2.

That’s followed by an NFL Christmas Day doubleheader, bringing the total to 3 NFL games across Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas Day. Boxing fans, meanwhile, get the long-awaited Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight.

The stakes are clear for the streamer. Netflix expects Q4 revenue of $13.4 billion and full-year 2026 revenue of $51.1 billion, up 13%, with a 31.5% operating margin. Engagement remains the key concern.

“We know there’s some investor concern about our view hours growth,” Netflix acknowledged in its shareholder letter, while insisting engagement remains healthy. With a Fincher-Tarantino collaboration, a beloved series finale, and marquee live sports, Netflix is clearly betting big on a strong finish to the year.
