New Clip Teasing Final Trailer for ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ Brings Emotional Farewell from Stars
The team behind The Conjuring: Last Rites just dropped a short clip teasing the final trailer, which is set to premiere tomorrow. In the sneak peek, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga share how emotional it was to finish this movie, especially after being part of this horror universe for so long.
They’ve also spent years playing a married couple on-screen. Patrick Wilson said, “She is the best co-star in the business and I will deeply miss my fake wife.”
The Conjuring: Last Rites is the latest supernatural horror film directed by Michael Chaves and written by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The story is based on the true investigations of Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal experts, and authors.
This film is the ninth chapter in The Conjuring Universe and follows up on The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It from 2021. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return to play the Warrens, with new cast members like Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy joining the story. James Wan, the creator of the original films, is back as a producer, along with Peter Safran.
The film will hit theaters in the United States on September 5, 2025.
Before filming began, director Michael Chaves spoke about the future of the franchise in an interview with Empire magazine. He said, “What [The Devil Made Me Do It] hopefully does is open up this new chapter for the Warrens. This has a very unique ending to The Conjuring films. I would be excited to see where it could go from here.”
Both Wilson and Farmiga expressed excitement about continuing their roles. Farmiga shared, “Oh my God, I’d love to [continue]. It’s interesting, we have to up the fear in each one. Demonology is already so high-pitched and operatic.”
The project was officially confirmed in 2022 by The Hollywood Reporter, with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick writing the screenplay and Wan and Safran producing. By 2024, Chaves was confirmed to direct again, with Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing doing rewrites on the original story. The cast grew with Ben Hardy and Mia Tomlinson joining.
Filming took place mostly in London, starting in early September 2024 and wrapping up by late November. Fans will notice a new composer for the score this time, Benjamin Wallfisch, who worked on Annabelle: Creation, replaced Joseph Bishara, who scored the first three Conjuring films.
With the final trailer coming out soon, anticipation is high for The Conjuring: Last Rites as it promises to deliver one last chilling chapter in the story of Ed and Lorraine Warren, ending their terrifying saga in style.
