New ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Teaser Gives Us a New Look at Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm Using Her Powers

Marvel Studios is finally giving fans a closer look at Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and it’s everything fans hoped for. In a new teaser released ahead of the film’s 2025 debut, viewers got their best look yet at the Invisible Woman in action, showing off her powers and giving a better sense of who she is in this version of the story.

Vanessa Kirby plays Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman, and she’s taking the role in a new direction. In this film, Sue isn’t just the quiet support of the team. She’s the head of the Future Foundation, a powerful figure who’s helped lead her world into peace and away from war.

Set in a retro-futuristic version of the 1960s on a parallel Earth, the story follows the Fantastic Four as they fight to protect their world from the planet-eating threat of Galactus and his cosmic herald, the Silver Surfer.

Director Matt Shakman said that Sue Storm isn’t just powerful, she’s also one of the smartest and most emotionally aware people in this universe. “She’s the most emotionally intelligent person on the planet,” Shakman said in an earlier interview.

In the teaser, Marvel Studios shows her turning invisible and putting up powerful force fields, proving she’s not someone to underestimate. Her scenes have a calm intensity, showing that she knows exactly when to strike and when to protect.

Vanessa Kirby said she worked hard to bring something new to the character, pulling from different comic book versions of Sue. She especially liked the storyline where Sue’s darker side, known as Malice, takes over. “I was obsessed with the comics run where Sue takes on the negative persona ‘Malice,’” Kirby said.

She made sure to include a bit of that edge in her version of Sue, even though the character is also shown as a future mother in the film. “I didn’t want her to be the stereotype of a goody, sweet mother,” she added.

Sue is also the sister of Johnny Storm and the wife of Reed Richards, and she’s expecting a child. But even with all of that going on, she’s front and center in the team’s biggest fight yet. She isn’t in the background, she’s leading, making decisions, and shaping the future.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to arrive in theaters on July 25, 2025, and will kick off Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios has promised a fresh take on the classic team, skipping the usual origin story and diving straight into a new adventure. With stars Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach rounding out the team, the movie is already one of the most talked-about MCU projects in years.

For fans of Sue Storm, this looks like it might finally be her moment to shine.
