New ‘Kraven the Hunter’ Trailer Unveils Action, Gore, and a Darker Tone Similar to ‘Venom’
‘Kraven the Hunter’ is set to be released this year as part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. After the disappointing performance of ‘Madame Web,’ expectations for this movie weren’t particularly high.
The film will focus on one of Spider-Man’s most iconic villains, Kraven the Hunter. While details about the plot are scarce, there are hints that it may draw inspiration from the “Kraven’s Last Hunt” storyline.
The trailer for the movie has been released, highlighting its ‘R’ rating and a tone reminiscent of ‘Venom.’ You can watch the trailer below.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as Sergei Kravinoff, portrayed as a conservationist and protector of nature. Ariana DeBose plays Calypso, Kraven’s love interest and a voodoo priestess. Fred Hechinger takes on the role of Dmitri Smerdyakov, Kraven’s half-brother and master of disguise known as Chameleon. Christopher Abbott appears as the Foreigner, a mercenary and assassin. Alessandro Nivola plays Aleksei Sytsevich, also known as Rhino, a Russian mercenary who can transform into a human-rhino hybrid. Russell Crowe is cast as Nikolai Kravinoff, Kraven’s estranged father, while Levi Miller’s role is still under wraps.
‘Kraven the Hunter’ is scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release on December 13, 2024, in both IMAX and premium large formats (PLMs). The film’s release date was previously set for January 13, 2023, then moved to October 6, 2023, and later rescheduled to August 30, 2024.
