Marvel fans are getting excited about the upcoming movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps, especially now that we’ve seen what Galactus will look like. The movie is hitting theaters in July 2025, and it’s the second time Marvel is bringing the Fantastic Four back with a fresh reboot. But this time, things feel different. The movie has a new style and a much bigger threat: Galactus himself.

Marvel Studios recently shared a new look at Galactus, and he’s nothing like the cloud version people remember from Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

This time, Galactus looks more like the classic comic book version. He’s wearing his famous purple and blue armor, and the filmmakers even made a real suit for Ralph Ineson to wear during filming. That’s right, it’s not just all CGI. This helped Ineson really get into the role and feel like the giant planet-eater himself.

A new look at the villain depicts him as cosmic horror, partially hidden in darkness, ominously looming over our heroes:

Director Matt Shakman talked about Galactus and didn’t hold back. He called him a “humongous, 14-billion-year-old, planet-devouring cosmic vampire.”

Ralph Ineson, the actor playing Galactus, is known for his deep voice, and he’s bringing that to the character. But Ineson doesn’t think Galactus is just some evil monster. “He’s a god of sorts… a big, planet-eating guy, simply doing what a big, planet-eating guy does,” Ineson said. He even spent time alone on rooftops while thinking about how to capture Galactus’s strange and powerful energy.

Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, really wanted Galactus to be in this movie. He was so focused on getting Galactus right that, according to Marvel Studios, he even showed clips of Galactus from Fortnite to the film crew, just to give them a better idea of what he should feel like on screen.

This movie doesn’t waste time retelling how the Fantastic Four got their powers. Instead, the story jumps right in. The team, played by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, are already superheroes when the movie starts.

The world around them has a mix of futuristic tech and 1960s retro style, which gives the movie a cool, vintage sci-fi look. This unique style is something the filmmakers really focused on. According to Marvel Studios, the movie was shot in England and Spain from July to November 2024, using lots of real sets and practical effects to give it a fresh feel, different from the usual Marvel films.

Galactus isn’t just a huge threat in terms of size; he’s meant to feel like something much deeper. The filmmakers wanted him to feel like cosmic horror, like something ancient and impossible to fully understand. Shakman described him as a force of nature, not just a monster. Ralph Ineson’s calm but powerful performance is supposed to show that Galactus isn’t evil for the sake of being evil; he’s just following his nature.

With the release getting closer, fans are eager to see how the Fantastic Four will handle a villain as massive as Galactus. They’re also curious to see how Ineson’s voice and performance will bring the character to life, and how Galactus will fit into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The movie is almost here, and from what Marvel Studios is showing us, this version of Galactus might be the biggest and scariest we’ve ever seen.
