[New Look] Kong Roars Back to Monsterverse in New Season of ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’
Kong is back in action in the first teaser for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, giving fans a thrilling glimpse at the Apple TV series’ next chapter.
The live-action show is part of Legendary’s Monsterverse, which includes films like Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla x Kong. Season 1 aired from November 2023 to January 2024, and the series was quickly renewed for a second season in April 2024.

Apple TV released the official teaser for season 2, confirming a February 27, 2026 premiere. The short clip begins with what looks like camcorder footage of surfers enjoying a day at the beach. Their fun is cut short when authorities evacuate them from a “high-alert titan area.” As they walk off the sand, small spiky monsters rise from the beach and attack, kicking off a series of tense and action-packed moments.

The show continues to follow the Monarch organization across two timelines as it tracks the titans that have emerged on Earth. The teaser highlights intense scenes, including Kong seen from a helicopter at night, Cate Randa (Anna Sawai) facing a powerful gust of wind, young Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell) looking terrified, and modern-day Lee (Kurt Russell) struggling to escape a sea monster while driving a boat.
This teaser marks the return of Kong, who has not been seen on screen since 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Kong made a brief cameo in the season 1 finale of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which had primarily focused on Godzilla and other titans. Interestingly, Godzilla does not appear in the new teaser, suggesting that season 2 may focus more on Kong’s storyline.
Fans can expect sporadic but impactful appearances of the giant ape, building anticipation for his next big-screen return in 2027’s Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.
The teaser also hints at Kurt Russell returning to the Monsterverse, after his character was last seen pulled into a mysterious blue portal. Wyatt Russell and Anna Sawai are confirmed to reprise their roles, along with other returning cast members from season 1, including Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, Mari Yamamoto, Elisa Lasowski, and Anders Holm.
