Filming for the new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, officially kicked off on August 3, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland. The production is currently using the working title Blue Oasis. Brett Pawlak, who has worked with director Cretton on previous projects, returned as the cinematographer.

Although filming was originally planned to start earlier this year, the schedule was pushed back to accommodate Tom Holland’s other work, including his role in The Odyssey, which he completed first.

The Glasgow shoot mainly takes place in the city center, using spots like Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate to stand in for New York City. These locations will also be part of a major action scene in the film. Tom Holland shared his excitement about filming on location again, saying it reminds him of when they shot Spider-Man: Homecoming.

He pointed out that No Way Home was mostly filmed on soundstages due to COVID-19 restrictions, so it feels great to have real-world settings again. Holland also seemed happy that fans could witness the filming process alongside the cast and crew.

Photos from the set revealed armored vehicles with a red demon symbol on them. Fans noticed that this symbol looks like the logo for the Inner Demons gang, led by the villain Mister Negative in the Spider-Man comics. This has led to speculation that Mister Negative might appear in the movie. Another set detail spotted by Paul Trainer from Glasgow World was a bust shaped like a rhinoceros head, hinting that the villain Rhino could be part of the story too.

The production also filmed at Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, London, on August 7. Around that time, the Glasgow shoot was extended through August 26. After completing outdoor scenes, the crew will move to Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England, for soundstage filming.

Recently, leaked photos showed Spider-Man, or someone dressed like him, standing on the side of a tank. It’s unclear whether it’s Tom Holland himself or a stunt double.

On August 10, Sony also released a behind-the-scenes video that recapped the first day of filming.
