New Star Joins the Action-Packed Cast of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
Tramell Tillman is making a big leap from the stage to the big screen. The Emmy-nominated actor has officially joined the cast of Sony and Marvel’s upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Variety reports.
Details about Tillman’s role are being kept secret, but he will be sharing the screen with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Zendaya’s M.J. Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, along with Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas in mysterious new parts.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a new superhero movie based on Marvel’s famous web-slinger. The film is being co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, and Sony Pictures Releasing will distribute it. It is set to be the 38th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fourth Spider-Man film within the MCU, following Spider-Man: No Way Home from 2021.
Destin Daniel Cretton is directing, with a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Alongside the returning stars, Michael Mando and Tramell Tillman round out the cast.
The movie is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU. Principal photography started on August 3, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland, under the working title Blue Oasis. Brett Pawlak is returning as cinematographer, having worked with Cretton on several previous films. Filming was originally expected to begin earlier in 2025, but it was delayed to accommodate Holland’s other project, The Odyssey.
The Glasgow shoot took place across the city center, including Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate, standing in for New York City. Holland expressed his excitement about filming on location again, saying it reminded him of making Homecoming after No Way Home was mostly done on soundstages because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said he was glad fans could see the start of filming with the cast and crew.
Set photos from Glasgow showed armored vehicles with a red demon logo, reports compared those to the Inner Demons gang led by Mister Negative in the comics, hinting the villain could appear in the film. Paul Trainer of Glasgow World noted a reference bust shaped like a rhinoceros head on set, suggesting the possible inclusion of the villain Rhino.
Filming also took place at Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, London, on August 7, and Glasgow shoots were extended until August 26 for a commercial. Additional soundstage work is planned at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.
