New ‘Strength’ 30-Second Spot for Superman Highlights His Greatest Power

Warner Bros. Pictures is gearing up to release the new Superman movie on July 11, 2025. The film, directed and written by James Gunn, is the first in the new DCU and marks a fresh start for the Superman story on the big screen. David Corenswet plays the lead role of Clark Kent/Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as the villain Lex Luthor.

The latest clip, called the Strength, shows Superman talking about his greatest power being the humanity inside him. It’s a new angle that sets this film apart from past versions. Fans are already buzzing about what this reboot will bring when it hits theaters.

This movie shows Superman struggling to balance his alien background with the life he’s built with his human family in Smallville, Kansas. James Gunn described Clark as “madly in love” with Lois and navigating new friendships with other superheroes who see him as naive.

Producer Peter Safran said this version of Superman represents “truth, justice and the American way” and shows kindness in a world that often overlooks it. Corenswet’s take on Superman is a mix of inspiration from classic comics and Christopher Reeve’s iconic portrayal, but with a younger and more personal touch.

Rachel Brosnahan brings a modern and fierce energy to Lois Lane, having talked to real journalists to make her role believable. Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor is a driven and obsessive villain who challenges Superman not just physically but ideologically. Hoult said he wanted Luthor to feel like a real threat, inspired partly by Steve Jobs and past comic book versions.

The movie also features other superheroes, including Mister Terrific, Metamorpho, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl, each adding to the expanding DCU world. Filming took place mainly in Georgia and Norway, wrapping up in July 2024. The story pulls ideas from popular comic runs like All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison.

Before this new film, Warner Bros. had plans for a sequel to Man of Steel (2013) with Henry Cavill returning, but those plans changed after the problems with Justice League (2017). Instead, James Gunn started fresh in 2022, working on a new vision for the Superman character and the entire DC Universe. Gunn became co-CEO of DC Studios and has been shaping this new era alongside producer Peter Safran.

The cast also includes familiar faces like Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Sara Sampaio, plus new additions like Milly Alcock as Supergirl. Even Frank Grillo returns as Rick Flag Sr., connecting the film to other DC stories.
