New ‘Superman’ Set Photo Offers Best Look Yet at Mister Terrific and Guy Gardner in Full Costume

A new behind-the-scenes photo from Superman has surfaced, giving fans their best look yet at two of the film’s standout characters: Guy Gardner and Mister Terrific. Nathan Fillion and Edi Gathegi are bringing these two heroes to the big screen as part of James Gunn’s fresh take on the DC Universe.

Fillion is suiting up as Green Lantern’s boldest member, Guy Gardner. The character stands out with his signature green suit and a very familiar bowl haircut—straight from the comics. In fact, Fillion made sure the haircut stayed. “It’s part of what makes him recognizable,” he said.

He described Gardner as “a fearless, overconfident jerk” who always speaks his mind. To find the right tone, Fillion took inspiration from a surprising source—Sophia from The Golden Girls. According to him, Gardner wasn’t always this way. “He was hit by a bus and ended up in a coma. That’s what flipped the switch and made him a little off,” Fillion explained.

Gathegi plays Mister Terrific, also known as Michael Holt. He’s a genius inventor and crimefighter who relies on tech rather than powers. Gathegi shared that his character is an atheist who believes strongly in justice. After losing his wife, Holt focused on learning and reason to deal with his grief. Gathegi described him as someone with a clear moral drive who uses his mind to make a difference.

Both characters are part of a team called the Justice Gang, which will appear alongside Superman in the film. The team is backed by Maxwell Lord and adds more depth to the world of superheroes that Superman interacts with.

Director James Gunn has said that while Superman introduces other heroes, the film’s heart remains with Clark Kent. Gunn wants to explore how Superman fits into a world filled with other heroes, but also show his everyday life, including his work and relationships.

Filming started earlier this year, with most scenes shot in Georgia and Ohio. The movie is inspired by the All-Star Superman comic series by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, which Gunn has said heavily influenced his vision.

David Corenswet stars as Clark Kent, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. But while these names are leading the film, supporting characters like Fillion’s Guy Gardner and Gathegi’s Mister Terrific are already gaining lots of attention for their unique styles and faithful portrayals.

Superman is set to release on July 11, 2025. It marks the first film in the new DC Universe, now led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
