Get ready to return to Camp Half-Blood. Disney+ has officially released a brand-new trailer and poster for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, and fans finally have a release date, December 10, 2025. The second season will continue the adventure with an adaptation of The Sea of Monsters, the second book in Rick Riordan’s bestselling series.

The show first premiered on December 19, 2023, and covered the events of The Lightning Thief in its eight-episode first season. It quickly became a hit with both fans and critics. Reviewers praised the show’s strong connection to the original books, its impressive worldbuilding, and standout performances, especially from Walker Scobell as Percy and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth.

The series earned sixteen nominations at the 3rd Children’s and Family Emmy Awards and won eight, including Best Young Teen Series and awards for both writing and directing.

Now, the adventure continues with Percy heading into dangerous waters. The new season brings back Scobell, Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover. They’ll be joined by several new characters, including Percy’s Cyclops half-brother Tyson, played by Daniel Diemer. According to a reveal at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Diemer will bring the fan-favorite character to life for the first time on screen.

Several other new faces have joined the Season 2 cast. Dior Goodjohn and Charlie Bushnell return in expanded roles as Clarisse and Luke. Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, and Margaret Cho were announced at D23 Expo as the Gray Sisters, each taking on the role of one of the three strange drivers Percy meets, Anger, Tempest, and Wasp.

Timothy Simons joins as the camp’s new leader, Tantalus. On top of that, Tamara Smart is stepping in as Thalia Grace, and Andra Day has been cast as Athena. Courtney B. Vance has taken over the role of Zeus, following the passing of Lance Reddick in 2023. More guest stars for the season include Rosemarie DeWitt as C.C., Aleks Paunovic as Polyphemus, Beatrice Kitsos as Alison Simms, and Kevin Chacon as Chris Rodriguez.

Filming for Season 2 took place in Vancouver from August 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025. Albert Kim joined the show as an executive producer starting this season, and according to reports, writing for the new episodes began as early as March 2023.

In March 2025, even before Season 2 aired, Disney+ renewed the show for a third season, which will adapt The Titan’s Curse. Production on Season 3 is expected to begin in July 2025, also in Vancouver.

Writing for that season began earlier this year, and the creative team plans to dive deeper into character arcs, including more exploration of Chiron’s disability, something that was only briefly touched on before.

Casting is already underway for Season 3. At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, it was announced that Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie will play Nico and Bianca di Angelo, the children of Hades.

The excitement for the second season is building quickly now that the trailer is out. With new monsters, new gods, and new threats waiting in the Sea of Monsters, Percy’s next chapter is shaping up to be just as epic as the first. As Rick Riordan said back when the series was greenlit, “This show is for the fans, and we’re just getting started.”
