New Trailer for Emotional Sci-Fi Film Features Lulu Wilson Racing an Alien Before September Debut

A new sci-fi movie called Xeno is set to arrive in theaters on September 19. The story centers on a teenage girl, played by Lulu Wilson, who forms an unexpected bond with an alien that crashes near her home. A recently released trailer shows Wilson’s character racing the alien on an ATV, hinting at their adventurous friendship.

The film’s plot thickens as government agents close in, and the girl learns that the alien is not what she first believed. She feels driven to protect her new friend and uncovers a secret that could affect both their worlds.

Xeno is directed and written by Matthew Loren Oates, who also worked on the visual effects. The project is produced by Kevin Hart’s company, Hartbeat, and filming started in Albuquerque in early May. Besides the sci-fi elements, the movie also explores the girl’s personal struggles with her mother’s depression and her mother’s abusive boyfriend.

Alongside Wilson, the cast includes Omari Hardwick, Wrenn Schmidt, and Paul Schneider. Kevin Hart, Bryan Smiley, and Luke Kelly-Clyne are among the producers, with Hartbeat teaming up with The Henson Company to create the alien character. Casting is handled by Chrissy Fiorilli Ellington.

Lulu Wilson has a strong background in action and thriller roles. She starred in Becky and its sequel The Wrath of Becky, which premiered recently at SXSW. Wilson has also appeared in movies like The Glorias and Annabelle: Creation, as well as TV shows such as The Haunting of Hill House and Sharp Objects. She recently finished working on the Netflix miniseries The Fall of the House of Usher.

Omari Hardwick, known for his role on Power, is also in the film. He has won several NAACP Image Awards and appeared in films like Army of the Dead and Sorry to Bother You. Hardwick recently starred in the Netflix series Pieces of Her and the Sundance drama To Live and Die and Live. He also has upcoming Netflix projects with Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez.

Joining the cast is Trae Romano, known for his work on Stargirl and the Comedy Central series Robbie.

Xeno promises a mix of sci-fi adventure and real-life challenges, offering a fresh take on an alien friendship story. Fans of the cast will likely be eager to see how the film develops.
