New War Film with a Perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes Arrives on Disney+

A new documentary about the life of war photographer Lynsey Addario is now available for streaming on Disney+.

Titled Love+War, the film was directed and produced by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, known for their skill in capturing high-stakes stories with emotional depth.

The film premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 7 and saw a limited theatrical release on October 29, before airing on National Geographic on November 6. Love+War explores Addario’s career as a photojournalist, highlighting both her groundbreaking work in conflict zones and the personal toll it takes, particularly on her life as a mother.

Critics have praised the documentary, with Rotten Tomatoes reporting a perfect 100% rating from 16 reviews. Metacritic assigned the film a score of 71 out of 100, indicating generally favorable reviews.

Jason Gorber of Next Best Picture gave the film an eight out of ten, noting that it is “emotional, exhilarating, and essential, photographers capturing a photographer, game recognizing game, with highly skilled filmmakers finding another perfect subject in this internationally renowned photographer.” Leslie Felperin of The Hollywood Reporter highlighted how the film “directly addresses how Addario’s job impacts her as a mother,” setting it apart from many other documentaries about war photographers.

Love+War combines gripping war coverage with intimate personal storytelling, offering viewers a rare glimpse into the life of a journalist on the front lines. The documentary is now available to stream on Disney+, allowing audiences to experience Addario’s journey from home life to some of the world’s most dangerous conflict zones.
