Next James Bond Could Be the Youngest Yet After Actor’s Alleged Secret Meeting With Villeneuve
The Oscar-nominated actor Jacob Elordi is currently in early discussions that could place him in the running to inherit cinema’s most iconic spy.
Denis Villeneuve, known for his meticulous approach and visually striking films like Dune, has already begun laying the groundwork for the next Bond reboot. Casting will be a critical component, as the new actor must embody both the charm and the lethal edge that define 007. While Villeneuve’s search is still in its early stages, Elordi has emerged as a major potential candidate.
According to World of Reel, Amazon is quietly pushing Jacob Elordi as a top contender for the role, though no official offer has been made yet. In February last year, it was confirmed that Amazon MGM had secured full creative control over the franchise. This gives the streaming giant a significant role in shaping the future of 007.
Recent reports from Showbiz 411 have added fuel to the fire, stating that Elordi has already had formal meetings with both the producers and Villeneuve to discuss the role. So far, there has been no indication that Villeneuve objects to Elordi. However, a final decision on the next Bond actor is not expected until mid-2026.
This potential choice stands in contrast to previous reports from Deadline, which claimed Amazon was looking for an unknown British actor to fill the role. Elordi’s recent work shows both his impressive range and his rising status in Hollywood. In 2024, he appeared in Paul Schrader’s Oh, Canada, portraying the younger version of Richard Gere’s character.
That same year, he earned critical acclaim for On Swift Horses, a period drama about LGBTQ relationships. Critics praised his sensitive and electrifying performance as Julius, a gambler who falls in love in 1950s Las Vegas. These roles have proven he can handle complex, emotional narratives with ease.
Elordi also starred in a miniseries adaptation of The Narrow Road to the Deep North. Most notably, he took on the iconic role of Frankenstein’s monster in Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix horror adaptation of the classic tale. This performance just earned him his first-ever Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor on January 22.
Beyond the Bond rumors, Elordi has a packed schedule of high-profile projects. He is set to appear in Ridley Scott’s upcoming science fiction film The Dog Stars, which is scheduled for release on August 28. He will also star as Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights alongside Margot Robbie.
Additionally, fans are eagerly awaiting the third and final season of Euphoria, which is set to return to HBO on April 12. With a mix of blockbuster potential and prestige drama, Elordi has proven himself capable of blending charisma, intensity, and vulnerability. These are the exact qualities that make him a strong contender for the next 007.
Do you think Jacob Elordi has the right blend of charm and intensity to be the next James Bond in the comments?
