Nicholas Hoult Looks Absolutely Jacked While Training to Reprise Lex Luthor in ‘Man of Tomorrow’
Nicholas Hoult is officially hitting the gym to get back into supervillain shape. On February 7, personal trainer Paolo Mascitti shared a look at the 36-year-old actor’s physical transformation on Instagram, showing that Hoult is already bulking up to reprise his role as Lex Luthor.

During an interview with Variety at the Red Sea Film Festival, Hoult confirmed that cameras will start rolling in April. While he had to be careful not to reveal too many secrets, he couldn’t hide his excitement about the project. He told reporters that he has already read the script and simply called it awesome, noting that fans can expect some really fun stuff for the bald billionaire this time around.
In this new story, the dynamic between the Man of Steel and his arch-nemesis is going to take a very unexpected turn. Director James Gunn has teased that Lex Luthor and Superman will actually have to work together to face a much larger threat. This “much bigger threat” was recently revealed to be Brainiac, with German actor Lars Eidinger officially joining the cast as the iconic, skull-shining villain.
It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie, Gunn explained during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show. He noted that he really wanted to explore the complicated relationship between the two rivals. Hoult also mentioned to GQ that he is looking forward to subverting expectations with the character, especially after his cameo appearance in the second season of Peacemaker showed Lex’s life behind bars.
Aside from his DC duties, Nicholas Hoult has been one of the hardest-working actors in Hollywood lately. He recently starred in Clint Eastwood’s legal thriller Juror #2 and Robert Eggers’ gothic horror Nosferatu, which both hit theaters in late 2024. Fans can also look forward to seeing him in the high-stakes heist film How to Rob a Bank, directed by David Leitch, which is scheduled for a September 4, release.
How to Rob a Bank features a massive ensemble cast including Anna Sawai, Pete Davidson, and Zoë Kravitz, following a crew of criminals who use social media to document their brazen heists. Hoult is also set to star in Cry to Heaven, a drama directed by Tom Ford. Between these diverse roles and his return to Metropolis, Hoult is proving he can handle everything from period dramas to massive action blockbusters.
Man of Tomorrow is currently scheduled to fly into theaters on July 9, 2027. It will feature the return of David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. As the filming date in April approaches, fans are eager to see if this alliance between Lex and Clark Kent will be a permanent change or just a temporary truce to save the world.
Do you think a Superman and Lex Luthor team-up is the right move for the sequel, or would you rather see them remain as pure enemies from the start? Share your thoughts in the comments.
