Nicole Scherzinger is opening up about her faith and the challenges that come with being open about it in the entertainment world.

In an interview with Variety, the singer and actress said that being a Christian in Hollywood isn’t always easy, especially when faith gets mixed up with politics.

Scherzinger, who has been performing on Broadway, shared that she tries to stay true to her beliefs even when it’s not popular.

“I have a wonderful church that I go to in Hollywood. Most of my friends in Hollywood are Christians. I think Christianity does get a bad rap, but I think that’s why, if you’re a true Christian, you have to lead by example and be the light,” she said.

She spoke about a moment after the 2024 U.S. election that caused some misunderstanding online. The former Pussycat Dolls lead singer commented on a post by Russell Brand, who shared a photo wearing a hat that read “Make Jesus First Again.” Scherzinger replied with, “Where do I get this hat?!” adding heart and prayer emojis.

The comment quickly drew criticism from people who connected it to political messaging similar to Donald Trump’s campaign slogan.

Realizing how her comment was being taken, Scherzinger deleted it and apologized, saying she never meant to make a political statement. “Many of the marginalized communities feeling hurt and concerned by the results of the presidential election are people I care about most,” she said. “I stand with them, as I always have throughout my life and career. If you know me, you know that.”

Despite the backlash, Scherzinger made it clear that she doesn’t regret expressing her love for Jesus. She believes more people in the entertainment business share her beliefs than many think.

She’s not alone in her faith. Other well-known stars like Chris Pratt, Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington, and Patricia Heaton have also spoken openly about being Christian. They’ve each said that their faith plays an important role in their lives and careers, even when it brings criticism.
