Nikki Glaser recently opened up about a harsh joke she cut from her Golden Globes 2026 monologue that targeted actress Sydney Sweeney. Speaking on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, the comedian revealed that she had prepared a line about Sweeney’s recent box office struggles but decided not to deliver it during the live broadcast.

“Tonight is a night of celebration but we can’t ignore that it’s a weird time in Hollywood,” Glaser read on air, sharing the unused joke. “People just aren’t going to the theater to see things. If you don’t believe me, there was a movie this year where Sydney Sweeney played a lesbian who just bounced around in tiny shorts for two hours and it made $14.”

The joke referenced Sweeney’s 2025 biopic Christy, which focused on boxer Christy Martin and underperformed at the box office. Glaser said the joke was meant to be delivered if Sweeney had attended the ceremony, acknowledging that the line was deliberately sharp given the public criticism Sweeney faced last year.

Glaser also admitted she cut several other edgy jokes aimed at big Hollywood names, including Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Julia Roberts, and Jonathan Bailey. She explained that factors like audience reaction, who was actually in attendance, and the potential to genuinely upset someone all influenced her final decisions.

Even after trimming some of her most cutting lines, Glaser still delivered a sharp and memorable monologue at the Golden Globes. She roasted stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet, proving that her humor stayed bold and edgy throughout the night.

It’s fascinating to see the decisions comedians make behind the scenes when performing live. Nikki clearly balances humor with awareness of the audience and context, showing just how much thought goes into what makes it on air. What do you think about her cut Sydney Sweeney joke?
