The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will let players use a USB mouse, a developer has confirmed.

We already knew that the new Joy-Cons will include a mouse sensor, but now there’s more. In a new video from Koei Tecmo, shared by VGC, producer Michi Ryu from Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition showed off how the system works with a mouse.

Ryu said: “The functionality is the same as the already released Steam version, allowing for left click, right click and wheel operations.”

In the video, he moved the Joy-Con’s stick to act like a mouse wheel. He also showed how the left Joy-Con 2 can be used for shortcuts.

Then, he plugged in a USB mouse and showed that it worked the same way. The screen showed a message every time he changed devices.

This means players will be able to use either the built-in Joy-Con sensor or a USB mouse, depending on what they prefer.

The Switch 2 will also come with new features for GameChat, Nintendo’s online chat system. At launch, GameChat will support text-to-speech and live captions.

Nintendo also said it may record video and voice chats stored on your console—but only if you give consent. These recordings will only be checked if someone reports a user, to help keep the platform safe and family-friendly.

To use GameChat, players will need to register a phone number. The Nintendo Switch 2 is shaping up to be more advanced, giving players new ways to play and communicate safely online.
